Reopening Communication for the 2020-21 School Year from Dr. Miklus
Next week the Governor will release his final recommendation for how schools will be opened this Fall. I wanted to take this time to let our families know the planning that has been taken place in our district this summer. Reopening committees were formed that included administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents. These committees worked to design plans so we can re-open schools in a safe manner. Currently our district is finalizing plans for a “Hybrid Model” which means students would have a mix of face to face instruction as well as on-line instruction in their home. We are also developing our plan for 100% on-line instruction. At this point the district is anticipating a Hybrid start for the school year.
For the coming school year each student will be loaned a district owned Chromebook to use for on-line instruction. Students will be held accountable for active engagement during on-line instruction days. Student attendance will also be taken during the on-line sessions. Our district teaching staff will engage in professional development to ensure they are ready to deliver this type of instruction to our students.
Questionnaires:
Starting tomorrow questionnaires will be available for all families to complete. You will be able to locate these surveys on our district and school webpages. These questionnaires are very important for the district. The data obtained from the questionnaires will help us determine bus routes as well as class assignments. The due date to complete this questionnaire will be August, 7, 2020. Please note that parents will be making a decision for how their child will be educated for the first marking period. Another questionnaire will be administered mid way through the first marking period so we can plan for the 2nd marking period.
